Burst disc
High Actuation Accuracy and Large Relief Area
*Precise Burst Pressure: Through precise slot design (e.g., cross slots, hash slots), the burst pressure can be controlled very accurately with a narrow tolerance range (often reaching ±5% or less). This is crucial for protecting systems where the operating pressure is close to the design pressure.
Full Opening Relief: Upon bursting, the "petals" between the slots fold back completely, providing **a full-bore relief area** with low resistance and high relief efficiency, enabling rapid system pressure reduction.
1. Product Overview
A Forward-Acting Slotted Bursting Disc is a precision-engineered, non-reclosing pressure relief safety device designed to protect pressure vessels, piping, and systems from overpressure events. It operates by bursting at a predetermined pressure and temperature, providing instant full-bore relief. The unique combination of a domed (forward-acting) shape and precisely engineered slots delivers exceptional accuracy, fatigue life, and reliability in demanding applications.
2. Construction & Design
Dome Geometry: The disc is manufactured from a single piece of metal, pre-formed into a convex dome (dished toward the pressure source). This design places the material under tensile stress during operation.
Slot Pattern: Laser-cut or precision-etched slots (typically in a cross, hash, or other patented pattern) are created on the dome's crown. These slots define the burst pressure and create predetermined lines of fracture.
Vacuum/Backpressure Support: A integral support ring (vacuum support) is fitted on the concave side to prevent collapse due to backpressure or vacuum conditions in the system.
Holders: Mounted between standard ANSI, DIN, or ASME flanged holders for secure installation and leak-tight sealing.
