In-Line Forward-Acting Rupture Disc Assembly

Product Model: ZD-015 (Compact Spool Piece)
Design: Integrated design where the rupture disc is pre-assembled into a short spool piece.
Key Feature: Extremely short face-to-face length, saving space and weight in skid-mounted equipment.
Installation: Bolts directly between standard pipeline flanges. No separate holder needed.
Pressure Range: 1 barg to 40 barg.
Typical Use: Skid-mounted packages, instrumentation panels, mobile equipment, and space-constrained retrofit applications.

Overview

In modular skids, analyzer shelters, and mobile processing units, space and weight are at a premium. The traditional two-flange holder assembly can be bulky. Our compact in-line assembly solves this by integrating the rupture disc into a minimal-length spool piece. This unitized design reduces installation footprint, minimizes potential leak paths (only one set of gaskets), and simplifies procurement and stocking. It arrives pre-assembled and tested, ready to bolt directly into your line.

Features & Benefits

  • Space Saving: Face-to-face length can be 50% or less of a standard two-flange arrangement.

  • Simplified Installation: One component to handle, align, and torque, reducing installation time and error.

  • Reduced Weight: Less material than separate flanges and holders, beneficial for skid design.

  • Leak Path Reduction: Eliminates the gasket interface between a separate holder and the pipeline flange.

How It Works

The rupture disc is securely sealed within a proprietary cartridge that is welded or otherwise integrated into a short section of pipe. This cartridge is designed to fit between standard ANSI or DIN flanges. When system pressure exceeds the burst rating, the disc ruptures within the cartridge, and the relieved media flows through the integrated spool piece.

Specifications (Descriptive)

Available for common instrument line sizes: DN15, DN20, DN25, DN40, and DN50. Standard face-to-face lengths are as short as 50mm for DN15. Burst pressures cover typical instrument air and process gas relief needs, from 2 to 25 barg. The spool piece material is typically carbon steel with anti-corrosion coating or stainless steel 304/316. Flange ratings match common skid specs (e.g., ANSI 150# or PN16). The internal disc is a standard forward-acting type.

Q&A

Q: How do I replace the rupture disc in this assembly?
A: The entire compact assembly is a single-use unit. After activation, the entire spool piece is replaced. The benefit is quick changeover: simply unbolt the old unit and bolt in a new, pre-tested one.

Q: Is the burst pressure as accurate as a standard disc assembly?
A: Yes. The integrated disc cartridge is manufactured and calibrated to the same stringent standards as our standalone discs. The assembly is proof-tested as a complete unit.

Q: Can this be used for liquid service?
A: Yes, provided the disc type selected (forward-acting, pre-scored) is appropriate for liquid media. The compact design itself does not restrict fluid type.
